Students and Faculty of the School of Power and Mechanical Engineering Learn About Engineering Applications of EDEM® Simulation Technology
24 April, 2013 – Senthil Arumugam, Alliances Director, Asia Pacific, presented an “Introduction to Discrete Element Method (DEM)and its Engineering applications” to a packed room of graduate students, PhD candidates, lecturers and professors from a variety of engineering disciplines at Wuhan University , one of the oldest and top 10 universities in China. This was the first in a series of invited seminars DEM Solutions will be presenting to the School of Power and Mechanical Engineering.

DEM Solutions' Latest EDEM® Release Extends the Scale and Capability of DEM Simulation for Bulk Solids Equipment Design and Manufacturing Processes
In this EDEM simulation large rocks in a cone crusher are broken into smaller particles that discharge from the sides. The number of particles in the simulation increases as large particles are replaced by multiple smaller particles, according to breakage functions. Each rock particle is colored by mass.
The latest release of EDEM® software, EDEM 2.5, provides a highly-scalable solution for simulation of complex bulk particle processes utilizing todays' high performance computing systems. New Application Programming Interface (API) capability in EDEM 2.5 expands model customization tools –- providing users with more direct approaches for simulating particle processes such as drying, sorption, coating and comminution, while streamlining model setup and reducing simulation times.
